FLIP FLOP OVERTURE was written in 2005 for my friend Anna Beatrice Scott, who was choreographing her performance piece called BORRACHA. She was choreo-story-telling about the rubber tree industry, so all the music was based on things that spring, bounce, boing and snap. The bass line for this piece was inspired by listening to recordings of rubber bands snapping, infused with a month-long auditory diet of nothing but samba.
